Looking After Your INIZI Jewellery

Precious metals, freshwater and cultured pearls, semi-precious gemstones and handmade Murano glass beads are used in the INIZI brand of bracelets, earrings and necklaces. To keep your jewellery looking their best is easy. Just follow our tips below.

Wearing
Do not wear jewellery when exercising, showering or performing household tasks; and particularly when you are at the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water. Always wear your jewellery last—after you have applied perfume, hairspray and cosmetics. Chemicals in these products can damage jewellery.

When applying hand sanitisers, please remove your ring. Wait for the sanitiser to dry completely before putting your ring back on. This way, both you and your rings are safe. Hand sanitisers commonly contain alcohol. This can break down the brilliance of gemstones and fine metal over time.

Storing
Store your jewellery, individually, in the pouch provided to reduce the risk of damage and pollution affecting their appearance. Soft gemstones and pearls can be scratched.

Cleaning
Carefully wipe jewellery with a soft microfibre cloth after each wear to remove oils and other chemicals. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels as they can cause scratches. Do not use chemicals or harsh cleaners as they can damage the jewellery. Pearls and most gemstones cannot withstand corrosive cleaning agents, polishing cloths, steamers or ultrasonic cleaners.

Care For Different Materials

Sterling Silver
Silver naturally tarnishes over time due to oxidisation. You can maintain their brilliance by gently polishing or buffing with a soft microfibre cloth or a silver polishing cloth. It is best to store silver jewellery in a resealable plastic bag to reduce tarnishing. Remove as much air as possible before sealing.

14K Gold-filled
Like gold, gold-filled can be easily cleaned to maintain shine and lustre. Clean with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water. Chlorine can permanently damage gold and gold-filled jewellery.

Gemstones
Gemstones and gemstone jewellery can be cleaned with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water and then gently buffed using a dry soft lint-free cloth. To prevent scratches, store each piece separately in the jewellery pouch provided.

Pearls
Pearls care is especially important as they scratch easily. Their lustre can be affected by harsh substances. Pearls can be gently cleaned with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water and then air-dried before putting them away. Store them in the jewellery pouch provided.

Glass Enamelled
Made from glass fired at high temperatures, enamelled jewellery should not be handled roughly. They require minimal care. But the glass can chip or crack if they are knocked or dropped.

To maintain lustre and shine, they can be gently cleaned with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water and then air-dried before putting them away. Store each piece separately in the jewellery pouch provided to prevent scratches.

Murano Glass Beads
Murano glass on its own is easy to maintain. But Murano glass jewellery is made with different components with different materials and appropriate care should be taken when you clean them. For jewellery made with 14K gold-filled components, clean with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water. But please allow them to air dry thoroughly before storage.

For jewellery made with sterling silver, gently polish or buff with a soft microfibre cloth or a silver polishing cloth.
